Case Studies: DaimlerChrysler
Challenge:
DaimlerChrysler was experiencing problems with getting vehicles serviced correctly forthe first time. This is a costly process and affects customer satisfaction when a vehicle is brought back to the dealership for servicing. DaimlerChrysler was concerned that the static, page-turning method of their training courses was affecting the retention of the material by their service technicians.
Solution:
Since 1996, Media Genesis has developed interactive training material (Internet, CD-ROM) for many clients. The DaimlerChrysler service technician training provided a unique opportunity to integrate our multimedia gaming experience with our training expertise. Media Genesis created animated characters (Trainers) that would guide the technician through simulated excercises. Technicians would decide which tools to use to solve the problem.
Results:
The video game interface and simulated excercises were a big hit with the service technicians. The method of solving problems mirrored their in-house process where they are presented with a work order and choose which tools are best for the job. Technicians improved their timing and accuracy in resolving problems. Another benefit was the technicians learned new features of the tools they use on a daily basis.
