Media Genesis in the news:
Detroit Symphony and Media Genesis Team up to Challenge the Way Orchestras are Seen Online
Troy, MI (Media Genesis) September 2008 – To anyone who has thought of the symphony as stuffy: Think again. The Detroit Symphony Orchestra is eclectic, engaging and interactive in a way that could only be pulled off in Motown.
The world-renowned Detroit cultural institution sent this message loud and clear this summer when they hired a cutting-edge web developer to re-imagine the online presence of the DSO. Troy, Michigan-based Media Genesis is a web development and marketing consultant, and what they’ve done for the DSO’s digital identity is nothing short of revolutionary.
“When the DSO first approached us, their website was a little disjointed, but it still worked and presented information in a manner that was consistent with what we’ve seen with other major orchestras,” said Antoine Dubeauclard, President of Media Genesis.
What Media Genesis and the DSO agreed on was, that if nothing else, the symphony’s new website http://www.detroitsymphony.com/ needed to embody the same sense of energy that concert goers could expect when strolling down Woodward Ave. towards the open doors of the Detroit Symphony’s Orchestra Hall. There is something seemingly vintage about the experience. While Media Genesis wanted to maintain the history of the organization in the design of the site, it was crucial to also capture the urban flare that comes with the diversity of not only Detroit, but the genre spanning guests and concerts of which the DSO plays host.
Early concepts began as sketches and collections of photographs taken at the DSO and surrounding areas. Media Genesis designers, programmers and project managers immersed themselves in the music, the ambience and the message of the DSO. Ultimately, the collaborative team came up with a concept that would literally take visitors of the website on a virtual tour of Orchestra Hall and beyond.
“The challenge didn’t really end with this street-level design,” Dubeauclard said. “We knew that some pages would be rich with content, and would need to exist separately from the Flash animation driving the experiential part of the site. But, we still knew that we needed the two aspects to be cohesive.”
Interior pages for the DSO were carefully planned and mapped out by Media Genesis’s project management team. They were designed and assembled so users were always one click away from buying tickets, finding donation information or hearing the music of their favorite performer.
The DSO’s website has a programming backbone that leaves little to be desired. That is to say, that nearly every facet of the website – be it the marquee on the homepage or the artist profiles in the backstage section – is completely controlled by a content management system (CMS). Media Genesis was able to empower the DSO with a website that goes beyond its good looks. The technologies firm built a custom CMS from the ground up, so that orchestra officials could have total control over workings of the new site.
“Making a site that is pretty, and making a site that has a lot of dynamic elements and data-driven content can often be two separate things,” Dubeauclard commented on his team’s approach to the DSO project. “In the end, you could casually go through the entire site and have fun with the interactive environments or scope out the shows. All the while, you’d never have a clue that you were getting information from several unrelated systems or that some of the more impressive graphical elements were being loaded dynamically.”
Dubeauclard is most proud of the fact that the technology and the art really seem to harmonize in a way that represents Media Genesis’s strengths well.
“We are really thrilled about detroitsymphony.com,” he added. “What is perhaps the most exciting thing for MediaG is that we have this living, breathing website that we can look forward to nourishing – along with the DSO – over the next few years. It is the sort of internet experience that will keep you on your toes even after many months.”

Media Genesis is taking an active role in consulting and producing their new website, which exhibits enhanced graphical appearance and functionality. The Greening of Detroit is a prominent local nonprofit organization that relies heavily on volunteers, corporate partnerships, and individual donations. The Greening’s enhanced website design and functionality now makes it easier for them to orchestrate volunteer events and secure charitable donations.
“Our partnership with Media Genesis has allowed us to expand our technology within the organization. It is difficult to find corporations like Media Genesis to take the time and create an environmental web site that is both user friendly and have a cool and professional look.” stated Rebecca Salminen Witt, president of The Greening of Detroit.
Media Genesis provides expertise to The Greening with a variety of services including online marketing, content writing, design, secure e-donations, and a custom back-end content management system that allows The Greening to make website updates at their convenience via a friendly user interface. Rebecca Salminen Witt underlines the importance for “The Greening of Detroit to have a web site that functions so that our partners and volunteers can view activities and events that are helping Detroit become cleaner and greener.”

A large body of work in the nonprofit sector provided Media Genesis with a special sensitivity for the evangelical and emotional nature that typically drives participation and support in this sector. “The Greening has built a strong and prestigious community of sponsors, contributors and volunteers. We knew that it was critical to highlight those projects and people - and to use the evidence of their support to establish instant creditability byway of a graphic environment that is engaging, compelling and easy to navigate.” says Antoine Dubeauclard, President of Media Genesis.

Media Genesis gives a helping hand to the nonprofit community with web design and Internet solutions.
Troy, MI (Media Genesis) June 4, 2008--The Troy-based web development company, Media Genesis, has donated its time and exceptional resources to various nonprofit organizations over the past decade, by doing what they know best – offering Website and Internet Solutions. In return, Media Genesis has received numerous requests for services from a variety of Metro Detroit nonprofits.
Media Genesis has produced at least a dozen nonprofit websites and marketing campaigns with several others currently in development. Many company employees have hands-on experience working in the local and regional nonprofit community, giving Media Genesis a notable advantage when arming organizations with the tools they need to further their missions and harness the marketing potential of the Internet audience.
“Media Genesis has always been committed to the nonprofit community and we are pleased to provide website designs and our creative services for them to enhance their marketing and communication efforts,” said Brad Frederick, Founder and CEO of Media Genesis.
Evidence of Successful Partnerships
Media Genesis is pleased to work with many metropolitan Detroit chamber’s of commerce to help them connect with and serve their members better. Following an extensive bidding process, Media Genesis was awarded the website development project for the Detroit Regional Chamber. Recently as well, Media Genesis proudly designed and launched the Chamber’s online magazine - the Detroiteronline.com. Media Genesis also built and maintains both the Troy Chamber of Commerce and the Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce websites.
Media Genesis recently launched the Frankel Center, a Jewish Studies website for the University of Michigan, as well as a website redesign for The Greening of Detroit whose mission is to guide and inspire others to create a 'greener' Detroit through reforestation of the city. The success of The Greening of Detroit website encouraged the forming of a partnership, via word-of-mouth, between Media Genesis and The McGregor Fund, a private organization dedicated to awarding grants to human services, education, healthcare, arts and culture, and public benefit. “We met with several different web development firms and what drew us to Media Genesis is the great work they did for The Greening of Detroit, and they are local,” said Norah O’Brien, Director of Finance and Administration at the McGregor Fund.
The list of charitable projects continues with website designs for Euro-Pēds, an intensive physical therapy program for children living with neuromuscular disorders; CIMS, a coalition of organizations, professionals, advocates and families who share a commitment to making mother-friendly care a reality; and Beyond Basics, a volunteer program of the Detroit Public Schools to achieve academic enrichment.
Media Genesis looks forward to collaborating with the local, regional, national, and global nonprofit community far into the future. Frederick affirms, “Giving back is in our DNA and I’m sure nonprofits want to work with a company that not only understands them and their business - but lives it as well.”

The Detroiter Online – Detroit Regional Chamber reveals its new voice to the worldwide web community.
After a joint study with Detroit Regional Chamber, the largest chamber in the United States with over 22,000 members, Media Genesis saw a huge opportunity to go beyond a more traditional informational web site. The hundred of thousands of site visits at www.detroitchamber.com could be turned into a vibrant virtual community of Chamber members. Over the last 12 years, Media Genesis has helped Nonprofits, foundations, academic institutions, hospitals and others redefine their web strategy and execute it online.
“We selected Media Genesis as our design vendor because of a demonstrated high level of expertise in delivering all aspects of a website project - artistic design, infrastructure, content management, navigation and business process,” explained Hans Erickson, Senior Vice President and CIO of Detroit Regional Chamber. Erickson further stated, “Media Genesis understands the strengths of the web and how that power could most effectively be leveraged for our purposes.”
Media Genesis began the process by analyzing site traffic patterns, noting the significant traffic garnered by The Detroiter magazine. From there, Media Genesis captured video experiences of users and watched them interact with various features of the web site. To supplement this primary user experience research, Media Genesis collaborated with Detroit Regional Chamber IT and marketing staff and coordinated a series of meetings to involve all major constituents in the redesign process.
The first part of this endeavor is the launch of the newly redesigned Detroiter Online (www.detroiteronline.com). The web site is full of Web 2.0 features, allowing members to participate in editorial ahead of print, see behind the scenes, talk about upcoming or past events. At a launch party held at the Tiger Club in Comerica Park, the site was revealed to a few hundred Chamber members, and over 200 people registered on the first day of launch. The site now features current events such as Southeast Michigan sustainability, economic development and regional cooperation projects.
“As the voice of the business community, The Detroit Regional Chamber plays a vital role in the shape and direction of our collective future in the State of Michigan” explains Brad Frederick, Media Genesis CEO, “we are happy to present the collaborative vision of The Detroiter Online to the business community regionally and internationally and look forward to the launch of The Detroit Regional Chamber main site later this year.”

Bloomfield Hills, MI; May 23, 2008—Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson, Charter One Bank and Crain’s Detroit Business recognized Media Genesis as an Emerging Sector Company, helping Oakland County reach $1 billion in total investment.
In less than four years, The Department of Economic Development & Community Affairs’ Emerging Sector Program, consisting of ten Sectors, 70 companies, and 12, 000 new jobs, offset the loss of manufacturing jobs in the area by creating and retaining new jobs in new industries.
Media Genesis’ contribution to the Emerging Sectors Program exemplifies the company’s success and achievements, as measured by the growth rate and introduction of new jobs. “Media Genesis is pleased to be part of the $1 Billion Dollar Club contributing to the revitalization of the Michigan economy. We have experienced an average annual growth rate of 50% over these past three years and we are on target to continue that growth in 2008.” states Brad Frederick, Media Genesis CEO.
Media Genesis is a forward-thinking industry leader and premier provider of Internet application development, e-learning, multimedia design, and marketing communication services, whose Michigan-based clients include Altair Engineering, Chrysler, Detroit Regional Chamber, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Dickinson Wright, Modernistic, and The Whitney.
“The Emerging Sectors program is our long-range global strategy to ensure Oakland County continues to thrive today and tomorrow as a premier technology hub,” says Patterson. The strategy of the Emerging Sectors Program also includes facilitating partnerships among current Oakland County businesses, involving local universities in researching global marketplaces, and identifying new sources of capital for the Emerging Sectors.
Media Genesis’ niche in web-based technology utilizes the collaborative work of engineers and artists to seamlessly integrate user-friendly, visually appealing interfaces with technically sound applications. The ability of Media Genesis’ graphic designers and programmers to create Static and Dynamic websites in the ever-changing field of technology provides the company the ability to continually grow and assist in the success of the Oakland County Emerging Sectors group.

Metro Detroit will be seeing green this February, if Media Genesis has anything to say about it.
Greening of Detroit now has a new look and new custom content management system, thanks to the non-profit’s partnership with Media G. The Greening of Detroit, is a 501 (c)(3) not for profit organization, established in 1989 to guide and inspire the reforestation of Detroit. Media Genesis, a proud supporter of their cause, donated many hours to assure that the group would have a vital and expandable online presence.
The final project should allow the for Greening’s website to grow as easily as the organization itself.
This February Media Genesis completed the five-month development of a client-side website and custom content management system for Aristeo Construction.
The feature rich site is an excellent representation of Aristeo’s portfolio. This new online home is lush with imagery that showcases their many impressive developments.
Perhaps most intriguing, was that Media Genesis was able to deliver Aristeo a hands-on website that left them in control of every detail. Nearly all of the site can be updated using a custom built graphical interface that was assembled by Media G developers over the past several months.
Aristeo has joined the ranks of Media Genesis clients working with a custom built CMS that offers the flexibility to decide, on the fly, how to best champion their brand to the online community.

MEDIA GENESIS CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY WITH THE BASH OF THE DECADE
Madison Heights, MI, -- Media Genesis celebrated its 10th anniversary with a bang. Hundreds of guests, including clients, staff, family and friends celebrated the anniversary with a Japanese Garden-inspired party at the Media Genesis Headquarters in Madison Heights.
“The energy of the party was simply amazing…It was great to see all the dynamic social interactions,” Said Alorea Wesolowski, Media Genesis staff member.
Media Genesis transported hundreds of guests into the colorful and innovative world of Media Genesis, with a celebration that rocked the neighborhood…literally! Live bands jammed the night away as graffiti artist, Shades adorned an outside adjoining wall, and guests inhaled flavored oxygen at the oxygen bar. In the Japanese garden designed by Design Group, an array of hors d’oeuvers were served on tables adorned with wild orchids as guests admired the Zen-inspired garden complete with a giant bronze Buddha, fresh cherry blossom and Bamboo tress.
“It was a big festival. From the time you hit the door and were greeted with warm welcome, to the time we left late into the next morning. It was a celebration of the companies’ great achievements,” Said, Don Williams, Media Genesis Staff.
Since 1996 Media Genesis has developed marketing, internet, intranet and e-learning solutions for companies of all sizes. In the past ten years, Media Genesis has enjoyed great success and won many design awards. “I believe our success is due to hard work and today we want to celebrate the culmination of all of our achievements,” said, Antoine Dubeauclard, President of Media Genesis.

A $3.7 million relocation plan, 155 new jobs and a Michigan state tax credit valued at $1.3 million might seem like a big move.
Believe it or not it, big moves were always in the back of his mind in 1996 when Brad Frederick founded Media Genesis. While real estate and state commissions weren't always leading the business plans when Fredericks' operation met over a billiards table, in lieu of the boardroom, the mission was always the same.
“I always hoped that Media Genesis would have an impact on the way people perceived technology companies in the Detroit area,” said Frederick, CEO of the Madison Heights-based internet technology company. “I hope that our continued growth and residency in Michigan inspires other companies to make it happen the area.”
Last month, Frederick and Media Genesis President Antoine Dubeauclard learned that the Michigan Economic Development Corporation would grant the high-tech partners $1.3 million in tax credit over the next seven years.
“We couldn't be more thrilled with how quickly and efficiently the state made the process. It has really put us in a good position to make the improvements and the additions that we have been envisioning,” said Dubeauclard. “The best part is that we can do it now, rather than wonder when the best time will be.”
Both partners have ambition to continue creating jobs in the state, they said. Media Genesis has never been a passive presence in the community. With long term involvement with nonprofits, like The Greening of Detroit - and with Frederick being named the Troy Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year, the company is a welcome addition to any community.
Media Genesis has quickly outgrown its home in Madison Heights, and will soon be moving to a much larger facility in Troy, where Dubeauclard hopes the technology group will continue to do more than just facilitate e-learning programs and build websites.
“The building that we are pursuing would allow us to have a very new-urban setup,” he said. “Ideally we could get some cool tenants, like a clothing merchant or a café to fill up the storefront spaces that we’ll have. From there we could occupy the office space and also have room for a large studio. It's all very exciting.”
This next step seems to make sense for Media Genesis. The company has always found success in a diverse range of services. From web hosting and programming to video production and design, Frederick says there is always more than meets the eye in his shop.
“Diversity is always something that we have been able to take pride in,” said Frederick. “The reality when you step through the doors at Media Genesis is that you can't possibly predict what you'll see. It goes way beyond building websites. On any given day, we could be doing a video shoot, creating animation or setting up a print advertising campaign.”
Who knows what's next for the rapid-rising Media Genesis?
One thing is for certain: the state of Michigan has one more high-tech leader that won't be heading west. That is a fact of which Frederick and Dubeauclard are very proud.
Media Genesis was selected to help re-architect the Detroit Regional Chamber web site and the Detroiter web site. As the largest Chamber of Commerce in the United States, the challenge is to create a web site that is engaging to the over 20,000 members of the chamber. The web sites for both the Chamber and the Detroiter Online publication garner over one million visits a year. The new web site will feature web 2.0 elements seeking to bridge member-to-member experiences along with messaging and information from the Chamber to its members.
Media Genesis works with numerous other chambers and member-based organizations and not for profit organizations.
Media Genesis is a unique culture. One of the methods utilized to grow that culture is a distinct system that allows employees to share feedback with each other in an anonymous fashion. This system, often referred to as a 360 peer evaluation, allows staff to focus on continuous improvement and receive positive reinforcement from peers. Plans are imminent to bottle the system and ship it to clients who are interested in connecting peers through an evaluation system.
Laser hair removal has never been so fun! After extensive testing of arcade games, Media Genesis staff developed a creative game reminiscent of Ms Pacman in which a woman is chased by razors and shaving cream. Upon reaching the laser, she can quickly vanquish these enemies and get a chance to win thousands of dollars in hair removal! You too can play at www.mediaG.com/zap. The campaign launched on October 1st, 2007 and is featured on MySpace, MSN and many other key portals on the Internet.

Troy Chamber of Commerce Honors Brad Frederick with Volunteer of the Year Award
The Troy Chamber of Commerce awarded Brad Frederick with the Volunteer of the Year Award for 2006.
“As a member-at-large as well as a former board chairman, Brad has always willingly offered his time as well as his professional and web expertise" said Troy Chamber of Commerce President Michelle Hodges.
The award is based on Mr. Frederick’s personal involvement with the chamber, generous donation of business resources and time dedicated to the chamber throughout the year, explained Hodges.
“I was honored to receive this award on behalf of our company,” said Frederick, Founder and CEO of Media Genesis, a website solutions design company. “In our case, the award really should read ‘Volunteer Company of the Year’ as our staff has also donated many hours over this past year. We have been active chamber members for the past 10 years and are proud of the contributions by our team to their many initiatives,” said Frederick.
Frederick volunteered Media Genesis to develop the SmartZone Maximization Committee’s “Ask an Expert” section for the Troy Chamber of Commerce website. The innovative feature found on www.troychamber.com facilitates online discussion with Troy Chamber of Commerce members and experts in topics ranging from commercial real estate and quality of life to electronic communications and finance. “Ask an Expert” allows people in the area to contact local professionals anytime online and introduces the community to the Troy Chamber of Commerce.
“We do business with many first-class organizations that are Troy Chamber members – ADP, Altair Engineering, ArvinMeritor – just to name a few of the A’s,” said Frederick. “Our active involvement and relationship with the Troy Chamber over the past 10 years has been mutually beneficial. Our business was up 45% in 2006 and we are projecting that same growth for 2007.”

Beyond Basics Web Site Redesign and Launch is Anything but Basic
Madison Heights, Michigan, 3/15/07 - Beyond Basics is an understatement for the work the non-profit organization does every day in making a difference in children’s lives. Beyond Basics and its 400 volunteers are dedicated to offering educational enrichment programs to students attending Metropolitan Detroit Public Schools. The organization launched a new web site (www.beyondbasics.com) on March 14, 2007.
Beyond Basics redesigned their web site to increase exposure and inform people of their work, assisting children with basic reading and writing skills. The organization presents children with the opportunity to become authors by encouraging them to write books, which are published for the students. Last year, more than 4,000 such books were published by students from Kindergarten to Grade 5. Beyond Basics is empowering and building confidence for 3,000 children this year alone.
“We hope the web site will connect people to us and help us do more,” said Pamela Good, President and Executive Director of Beyond Basics. “More exposure can lead to more volunteers and possibly more funding.”
Media Genesis, a Madison Heights-based web development company, was charged with the web site and logo redesigns. Media Genesis has donated its time and resources to many non-profit organizations over the past 10 years.
“We were inspired by the work Beyond Basics does with the children in Detroit Schools and the resulting rise in test scores these students are now achieving,” noted Brad Frederick, Founder and CEO of Media Genesis. “They do not charge the district, schools or students, so we were honored to volunteer some of our own time to support their work.”
“As a non-profit organization, we do not have much money for infrastructure, and if it wasn’t for the nice people at Media Genesis we would still have the old, antiquated web site,” said Good.
